Babes on Board classes have been running for over 22 years and initially started once a week to meet a need in a small maternity hospital in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. As demand and “word of mouth” have increased, the classes have increased both in size and frequency and now run in 2 locations. The demand for online classes during covid resulted in both face to face and zoom live classes -we’ve now returned to face to face options only. Gill is passionate about the classes being a safe and welcoming space so all women can exercise during this special time with professional consideration and appropriate modification offered to any issues presented during pregnancy and through the postpartum stage. These include pelvic girdle pain, pelvic organ prolapse and altered pelvic floor muscle function .
A number of other highly skilled women’s health physiotherapists are involved in running the Babes on Board classes-Laura, Rachel and Emily. They each work across the public and private hospital sectors both in inpatient and outpatient maternity services, and with significant training in running exercise classes.
